CloseTab ("we", "our", "us") is a Chrome browser extension that helps you organize tabs into project folders and focus on your work. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data.

What Data We Collect

Account information: If you create an account, we collect your email address and authentication credentials. This is processed by our authentication provider (Supabase) to enable sign-in and manage your subscription.

Extension data: Your projects, groups, saved tabs, favorites, focus timer settings, and preferences are stored locally in your browser using Chrome's storage APIs. If you sign in, your account and subscription status are stored securely by our authentication provider.

Analytics: We use Mixpanel to collect anonymous usage analytics, including:

• Feature usage events (e.g., creating a project, starting a focus session)
• Extension lifecycle events (install, update)
• Subscription plan type

Analytics data is used solely to understand how the extension is used and to improve the product. We do not collect browsing history, tab contents, or any personally identifiable information through analytics.

What Data We Do NOT Collect

• We do not collect or transmit your browsing history
• We do not read the content of any web pages you visit
• We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for advertising
• We do not use your data for ad targeting

How We Use Your Data

• To provide and maintain the extension's functionality

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

• Supabase — Authentication and data storage
• Mixpanel — Anonymous product analytics
• Freemius — Subscription and payment processing

Data Storage & Security

Your extension data is stored locally in your browser. Account data is stored securely on servers operated by Supabase. We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data.

Permissions

CloseTab requests the following browser permissions:

• tabs — To read tab titles and URLs for saving and organizing
• storage — To save your projects, settings, and preferences locally
• bookmarks — To import bookmarks into projects
• tabGroups — To create and manage Chrome tab groups
• topSites — To show your most visited sites in focus mode
• identity — To enable Google sign-in
• alarms — To power the focus timer
• offscreen — To play timer completion sounds
• windows — To manage the pinned dashboard tab across windows

Your Rights

You can:

• Export your tabs data from the extension
• Uninstall the extension to remove all locally stored data
• Contact us to request data deletion

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes through the extension or our website.
